PARENT EVENING QUESTIONNAIRE RESPONSES

We had 77 returns (although some second sides were left blank skewing Q10-17) and are very pleased with the many positive responses given. THANK YOU!

Please note:

Where parents have cited ‘disagree’ these have been accompanied by a written comment and have already or will be addressed as appropriate.

Q8 & Q9 We know that parents find meeting with the class teacher useful but are unable to offer more formal opportunities for this.  However this term we are introducing a mini-report which will give you an overview of how your child is doing and will provide an update about targets set at parents evening in October as well as setting new targets.   We will not be sending out information as to where your child is ranked in the class but will let you know whether they are working below, at or above age related expectations (emerging, expected, exceeding).  We will review the new mini-report in the spring term and would value comments from parents about what you would like to know about your child’s progress.

Q10 We have had a few comments from parents in different year groups about the effectiveness of the home/school diaries; some parents felt that this book was not an efficient way to communicate with the teacher, particularly if parents are working.  To improve communication parents will be able to contact teachers using e-mail – further information will be sent out on Friday.

Q11 Some parents commented that homework was too easy or not enough was given.  We will review our Home Learning policy after Christmas whilst we will still emphasise regular reading, supporting with phonics and relevant topic work we will try to consider further the level of challenge.

Q15 has a low % as many parents commented that they had no cause for complaint and therefore had no experience of how well any concern/complaint would be dealt with.
