Computing

At Broomgrove children have access to a range of tools which compliment the Computing Curriculum, the curriculum is split into three core strands; Programming, Information Technology and Digital Literacy which also includes Online Safety.

Across KS1, children are introduced to programming skills with the Beebots and developed through the use of ScratchJnr.  Children have access to iPads and laptops to further enhance the curriculum - each KS1 class has an allocated slot across the week for Computing and during these slots have sole use of the iPads and laptops. Staff are encouraged to also utilise the iPads and laptops to enhance learning in other areas of the curriculum.

As part of our commitment to Online Safety, all children participate in the Jessie and Friends unit of work.  This has been produced and is supported by CEOP.  All strands of the Computing curriculum should be matched to the Education for a Connected World document and staff plan coverage of these strands through the use of Project Evolve.

All children have a personal network user and password alongside a Microsoft Team account which they can use at school and home to access a full range of Office software to support their learning.  Key Stage One staff set and mark homework through the use of Teams.
