At Broomgrove Infant School we want high quality physical education for every child, equipping every child to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

All schools have been allocated £8000 lump sum and £5 per pupil each year for the next year.  The funding has set criteria and will be monitored by Ofsted in a similar way to how we publish and monitor Pupil Premium.

Below you will find our proposal for spending this year and our review of previous spending.

Children and staff are enjoying their weekly rugby sessions and we have been amazed at some of the skills our youngest children have mastered.  Selected Year Two children took part in a schools rugby tournament at our local rugby club

Rugby skills will be incorporated into our new scheme of work for 2015-2016

Tatty Bumpkins

Targeted children are showing increased confidence in the sessions and have the opportunity to enhance their physical development in a gentler more focused way.

We will continue to target this intervention for specific children.  We are buying resources which will enable us to run our own sessions in the movement room using TB ideas.

Rugby pups Yoga sessions

Children and staff are enjoying their weekly rugby sessions and we have been amazed at some of the skills our youngest children have mastered.

Skip2Bfit

This included a one day workshop, skipping ropes and a CD with 2 minute tracks to skip along to.  The workshop has encouraged lots of children to buy skipping ropes. Which they enjoy using at playtimes.  We also bought some for use at playtime and in the EYFS outdoor area as well as a whole class set for PE lessons.  Some children are very keen to beat the PB (Personal Best)

South American Dance workshop

All classes had a chance to engage in different dance styles as part of our S American adventure week.  This culminated in a dance off to the rest of the school.

All children and staff have been put into a sports team.  We held our first inter-school sports afternoon on 16th May.  We have set up a sports board and there is a cup to be won at the end of the year.  As well as encouraging engagement in skills and fitness activities, the purpose of the teams is to help children understand the competition and team spirit.

PA system

The PA system has proved a real hit at playtimes when music is put on for the children to dance or skip to.  It has a battery that lasts 7hours and is extremely portable.

Yet to arrive.  These have been ordered for use at playtime and sports afternoons so the children have the opportunity to practice their Rugby Pups skills

MDA play-leaders x2

We have allocated two MDAs as play-leaders within the weekly rota.  This means that they encourage active play, teaching the children new games that they can then play independently.  We have plans for the MDA play-leaders to undertake some training in October with Colchester Institute.

Colne Bank Dance teacher Spring Term 13

 

 

ASM gym coach x18 weeks Autumn & Spring term 14-15

Booked for next academic year to work alongside each teacher for a 6 week block starting with Year 2 in September and finishing with Reception in the Spring term. Gymnastics is an area of PE identified by staff in which they would like more training.

ASM football coach x4weeks Summer term 14

Sean will be our football coach for as Football festival that Year 1 and 2 will be taking part in on Saturday 14th June.  The training will be one of our Friday afternoon activities.
